Abstract
Global demand for food is increasing with the growing world population and decreasing arable land. Food and agricultural systems have to respond to several changes with increasing international competition, globalization and rising consumer demands for improved food quality, safety, health enhancement and convenience. Modern biotechnology involving the use of RDNA technology/genetic engineering emerged as a powerful tool for improving the quantity and quality of food supply.
